Kristen Rozanski is a Famous Actress

Kristen, think of this blog posting as an ad you parents might have taken out in your high school yearbook to express their pride over your recent achievements (Law and Order: Political Animal 1/30/08 - maybe you've heard of it?) It's not a full pager per se. Yeah... let's go ahead and call it what it is - a one-sixteenther. But even in super-fine print, proud is proud.

Show Recap: RiFiFi 1/19/08

Wow.  That was awesome.  We are all really pleased with the show last night.

The Stuff put up 5 sketches- Communications Made Simple, Stand Up Comedy Stage Mom, Reality Pitch, Clippy the Helpful Icon, and Dial-A-Girlfriend, and they all went really great- well executed, and well received.  I think we killed.

Leo Goodman channeled the emotions of various organs, which was excellent, and Slightly Known People were funny, inventive and gracious hosts as usual.  We especially liked their callback of Dial-A-Girlfriend during their phone sex/math tutor sketch, which as I understand it was written well before The Stuff ever existed.

The crowd at RiFiFi gets two thumbs up - way up-  for being more than just an audience.  You are now our fans.  Right?  Because you can't show us that much love and not call us the next day.  That's just not done.

If you would like to keep up with us, or if this is your first time visiting, send us e-mail at info@thestuffnyc.com and we'll send you love.  You can also subscribe to our blog by e-mail using the box on the right.  E-mail is the new myspace, didn't anyone tell you?

If you missed the show, fear not!  We might have some video of it so stay tuned.

Thanks to all of our friends who came to see us last night- there's more!

Show Recap: Liquid Courage at UCB 1/4/08

The Stuff welcomed 2008 with a bang- the first Liquid Courage of 2008 featured 3 of our sketches.  It is clear that our reputation as a team fails to precede us.  By my accounting, this was our third Liquid Courage  in the last month, and we still get the admonition that if our sketch is too long, we'll be blacked out.  Yeah, we heard you the first eight times. It is possible that we should forgive the UCB folks who run Liquid courage, because really the length of the show is all that is standing between them and getting the hell home.  Possible.

"Communications Made Simple," in its second appearance, made a killing.  Hallie's "Reality Pitch Room" is a winner, and will be even better next time.  I'm hoping to hear more of what people thought of "Verbalcom Wireless" - some folks thought we should slow it down a bit.  I was delighted that everyone bought me as a terrorist and didn't think I was a Cuban revolutionary.  Costume changes are no joke.

Looking forward to our show on the 19th at RifiFi, with possibly one more Liquid Courage appearance on the 18th.

Why do I have a strong suspicion that Ben is a habitual drink-n-blogger?

No seriously. Why do I think that?
ps: please come out and have your minds blown by our upcoming 5 minute set at the PIT.

Show Recap- Liquid Courage @ UCB 12-21-2007

The Liquid Courage crowd at UCB is one of the stranger phenomena I have ever witnessed.  Right after the  of  Liquid Courage generally attracts the dregs of the Death by Roo Roo (aka highbrow, improvised raunch-fest) audience.   The show really brings out the weird and random the depths of other people's comedy souls.  Is there a genre just for being intentionally awkward on stage- because there is something so perfect about that sometimes.

We put up two of Karien's sketches last night, and I think we confirmed  that they work.  "Communications Made Simple" offended my sister's friend MA, but she also thought it was very funny.  So, I say score one for us!

My sister and her friends left after that, so they didn't see "Bad Guidance Counselor, Bad!" though I felt that was well received.  Something about the last joke didn't grab the audience- we'll be working on that.

I wish we had like, a photographer.  Or groupies, that would be awesome.  At some point, we'll post some show photos.
